The approximately 32-acre property is located within a predominantly residential area, with a residential townhome community to the north (Norwalk Manor); a public park (Zimmerman Park) to the east; single-family residential, a senior residential community, and a hospital (Norwalk Community Hospital) to the south and single-family residential to the west, across Bloomfield Ave. Additionally, the Norwalk-Santa Fe Springs Metrolink Station is located approximately 0.2 miles north of the project site.

The Norwalk Transit Village Project will consist of the demolition of the vacant California Youth Authority campus to allow construction of a transit-oriented community with a mix of commercial, hospitality, multi-family residential and park/open space land uses. The City Council approved the specific plan in late 2024 to facilitate the development. Further project information can be found by utilizing the following link to the City of Norwalk’s website.
